The Israeli Navy Commando had prior knowledge of who was on the Turkish ship including where passengers were residing in terms of cabin layout. According to Swedish author Henning Mankell, who was on board the Marmara , “the Israeli forces attacked sleeping civilians.”

These were targeted assassinations. Specific individuals were targeted. Journalists were targeted with a view to confiscating their audio and video recording equipment and tapes.

“We were witnesses to premeditated murders,” said historian Mattias Gardell who was on the Mavi Marmara.

“…Asked about why activists on the Turkish ship had attacked the Israeli soldiers, Gardell stressed “it is not as if Israel is a police officer whom no human being has the legitimate right to defend him or herself against”:

The USS Liberty, a Flubbed-up False Flag

By 1948, under David Ben Gurion’s direction, the Israeli government developed the Israeli Terrorist Cell, Unit 131. In the mid 1950s, the U.S. was friends with Gamal Abdel Nasser and Egypt. Ben Gurion, an avid Zionist and the Israel’s first Prime Minister, envisioned an Egyptian terrorist attack against the U.S. in order to destroy that alliance. However, that wasn’t a probability, given the relationship between the two countries. So the Israeli government developed a pattern of using young Israelis who disguised themselves as terrorists of whichever  country they were attempting to implicate. This concept would be applied during Operation Cyanide, involving the USS Liberty, in an attempt to initiate World War III.

Israeli War Crimes: From the U.S. Liberty to the Humanitarian Flotilla

It is unthinkable that Israel’s premeditated deadly assault on the humanitarian flotilla could have gone ahead without a nod from Washington. James Petras lambastes Barack Obama and the U.S. Government for their refusal to condemn Israel and their outrageous political cover-up of a deliberate criminal act. In the face of such State complicity, the only way to put pressure on Israel is for civil society to sustain the world-wide boycott, disinvestment and sanctions campaign (BDS) against all Israeli products, cultural activities and professional exchanges.

Attacks on Gaza Mercy Convoy Are Nothing New

Killing in the Middle East by Israel has been real to me from days of my youth, growing up with Syrian-American kids at the Greek Orthodox church in Peoria, Ill. I understood more deeply when I later got to know Palestinians who were my fellow parishioners at the Antiochian church in Chicago. But never was the impact greater than when Israeli ships on Memorial Day killed peace activists bringing humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Shame: An Israeli student shouts during a protest against her country’s use of force in the deadly flotilla raid

The barbarous attack on a “Freedom Flotilla” by heavily-armed commandos marks a new low in the disregard of international standards of law and morality by the rogue State of Israel. Vessels flying Greek and Turkish flags were boarded in internationl waters nearly 70 miles off the coast, which qualifies as “an act of war” under international law. Apologists for Israel are making the case that the Israeli commandos were acting peaceably, but Turkish television has reported that they came aboard the ships with a list of those targeted for assassination.

The propaganda assets of Israel are making a huge effort to spin this event to blame responsibility on the artists, intellectuals, and other humanitarians who were aboard the vessles. This appears to be the latest in a long history of “false flag” attacks in which Israel commits violent acts and blames them on other parties. The flotilla was attempting to break a blockage of Gaza, where 1.5 million Palestinians are being held in hostage in what must qualify as the largest concentration camp in the world today. It can only be hoped that world-wide outrage will focus attention on the latest atrocities committed by the world’s leading terrorist state.

In his most recent article, Thierry Meyssan goes further and believes that this act is in retaliation for a new arrangement between Iran, Syria, and Turkey that threatens Israeli dominance of the Middle East. His reasoning suggests that this was a deliberate and calculated act by Israel motivated by its own selfish interests, even though it conflicts with those international standards of law and morality. It has long been my opinion that the ideal solution to “the Palestian problem” from the Israeli point of view would be to load them all aboard a ship, float it out to sea, and sink it. This conduct by Israel strongly supports such a perspective.
